http://www.explosiveracing.net/test/
Hi,
This is my first try at a design using css layout (big thanks to the people in the CSS forum who have helped ).I have only tested with IE6 and FF1.0.4. So if anyone is using other browsers I would be gratefull to see a screenshot of how it renders. Please could you comment on layout/design and how the site generally comes across to you. http://www.explosiveracing.net/test/ Thank you ![]() Last edited by explosive_tom : May 29th, 2005 at 03:19 PM. |

It looks pretty nice,
but if I were you, I'd either make the background some shade of gray, or I'd make a logo like yours, but it fits 100% width of an 800x600 resolution(which is the most popular right now), or you could do both, that wouldn't look to bad. Also, I'd just suggest getting some rollovers for the images while you're there. It looks good! Keep it up. Marty J.

Thanks for taking a look
![]() I am not quite sure what you mean by: "but if I were you, I'd either make the background some shade of gray, or I'd make a logo like yours, but it fits 100% width of an 800x600 resolution(which is the most popular right now), or you could do both, that wouldn't look to bad." The background of the site is a shade of grey. Do you mean resize the logo to 800 pixels? Please could you explain further. Thank you. |

Oh yeah, that it is, maybe a tad darker shade then...
With regards to the logo, I mean, if you could make a bigger logo, one that like what you have, but this one with a width of 800x600 (and a bit more in the height department wouldn't hurt anything). resizing the logo, would give your page more action, so-to-speak, would be perfect for an 800x600 user, and for the 1024x768 user, it keeps them from seeing so much space in the top. |

Ok, I have added larger logo. It seems huge now!
I have set my screen res to 800*600 and it fills fully horizontally now. What do you think? |

perfect!
That's what I'm talkin' bout! The only other thing I can think of, is that you might want to link the logo to the index page. Keep it up! Marty J. |

I have linked the logo and the links now change colour when the mouse rolls over
![]() Which browser have you been using? |

I have changed the "news" into <div>'s rather than tables so the entire page now uses <div> layout. I have made the site work in IE5.5 and added some extra items.
(None of the stats or login in works, so it will always say user "explosive". I am just getting the layout correct before implementing any of the php stuff )Comments/Opinions? |

I find it a bit hard to read the green links on gray background.
Btw, I suggest you'd use something likeLorem ipsum dolor rahter than just "news news news...." for testing what the layout looks like with some content

I have changed the link colour to black and the visited link to grey. I have also changed the news to "lorem ipsum...."
![]() Do you prefer the links now? |
