I recently made some major changes to my space wallpaper site, and I would like some feedback on the overall aspects of the site design etc.

The goal of the site is to provide an easy to use archive of space wallpapers created from NASA images and various other sources. The concept of the site came to me after trying to find sites with good quality space wallpapers and a large selection to choose from.

The url is : Final Frontier - The Ultimate Space Wallpapers

The site is free to use, and functions on a very limited budget. If I can generate better income from ads, I might be able to switch to a faster host and get a top level domain name, so any suggestions on optimizing my ad placements will also be a bonus

Thanks for taking the time!

I really like the template design and it loaded rather quickly for me but I have a fast connection so I had no problems with the functionality.

Your Affiliate links are not obtrusive so I like that, and I can deal with the top banner. Being you are looking for additional place to put up ads, I would have to say, without overloading the page, you only have one option. Small ads under the Navigation bar. If there is a way to allow for more then 9 images to show in thumbnails on the page and you make it 12 or 15, it would give you even more free space under the Navigation bar. I would not go to crazy there however because to many ads will slow the loading time and if you are not on a quality host any lags might begin to translate into really slow pages real fast and that means lost visitors who were not willing to wait.

I often use space backgrounds so I think I will bookmark your page. Thanks for sharing.

i think its a bit too bland. for one you use sqare shapes. second is you use gray on gray which i really dont like. i just think you should make it a bit more vibrand and eye catching. just beacause you do space oriented sites you dont have to do it monocolor. you can instead choose to go with something like some red or something like that. look at those images that the hubble space telescope took. you will see that space is more than just black and white. it sounds kind of cheesy but its the only way i can think of describing it at the moment.

Well, I've added a new gallery and a wide variety of new wallpapers to the site. I've also moved the Google ads around a bit. It's a slight improvement in my opinion.

Hey,

I love your site design it really suits your website. Your top banner is great and the links are good to. I really good navigation bar is essential to a website and youve done it. The only thing I think thats wring with your site is the google ads under the banner, they really stick out and dont go with your site at all. Maybe your should put them on the tight hand side of your page? Or, if you can change the background colour of the google ad to the same as the background colour of your site. If you cant do this, maybe put a fancy, graphical fram around the ads so they fight into the site more.

Overall a good site though, keep up the good work.

I agree. That's the next thing on my "to do list". I'm just busy uploading some new wallpapers, and once that's done I'll start to change the Google ads to better integrate into the site.

*edit*
I just changed the Google colors on my Index page. Let me know if it's an improvement.

Excellent, the google ads now merge perfectly in with the site. I cant recommend anything else to do, because I think its great! Well done.

I like the grey and square shapes, that doesnt distract the wiewer from the wallpaper images. how much would you charge for a site like that?

No, the logo isn't etched in stone. Personally I decided on the grey color scheme to be as little distracting as possible in comparison to the wallpapers. The grey coloring let's the wallpapers stand out very nicely.

I think some people will have trouble reading the white text on the light grey menu background. Maybe you can add some CSS to it so that you get a read text rollover effect or something just in case.

Otherwise I like it very much. I like sites with grey and black. Currnetly working on http://www.assassinsunited.com
