Made more to amuse myself and my mates than anything else, this is just one page of my site which is a long way from being completed. Wanted to hear some opinions on colours and general layout. I've tried to stick to the coding standards as much as possible but haven't got much experience with CSS yet (this is my first non-table based site). Any comments good or bad are appreciated. i think you have orginal design and interesting content but if you fix the site graphics and color differences littlebit more smoother then i think that you will have excellent design too.

That's not bad is it? I am well impressed with the drop down menu you've used (is it the infamous suckerfish?)? I like the colour scheme - especially the green highlight/offset colour. You need a title by the way...

it's looking pretty good, and i agree that it does look like a suckerfish.
you say this is a non-table based design, i count 5 tables!, be gone with them i say, but you're probably best not listening to me i whinge a little. but other than the tables and some odd colours, it's looking pretty good. |

hey all,
cheers for the responses. Yes, the menu was originally "borrowed" from a list apart and I will reference and credit it on my links page. I have modified the original quite a bit though to get it how i want it so it's not like i'm a total copy cat! Three: if i was in a pedantic mood i would point out there are only four tables not five, but i'm not so i won't. I attempted to replace each one with two divs but image content was overlapping at the bottom (some kind of float issue i think). At the moment i just wanna get the colours and layout sorted, then i will iron out my coding/validation issues. I hate it when i get conflicting opinions. change colours??? keep colours??? jeez, its messin with my head. oh yeah, i forgot to mention in my first post....any of you guys have mozilla/safari/other to test my page out? I have only tested so far on firefox/ie6 win so info on any other platforms/browsers would be nice. thanks DTR |

The Suckerfish drop down menu was originally done by Patrick Griffiths & Dan Webb at HTML Dog so you'd better credit them. I see they have a new article up now called "Sons of Suckerfish"

Thanks for that skyRocket. That's an impressive collection of menus they've got there.
Wow!! someone in australia has heard of my hometown AND knows the football team!?!? I hope you've never seen them play though cuz they're terrible! Although i have to say i haven't watched them for a while so they might have got a bit better, doubt it though ![]() |
