This is a site for a local variety group i help out at. This is the new site, i want to add a photo gallery when i have time. What do people think and does anyone have any suggestions. It certain beats the previous website which was created in publisher and didnt work in a few browsers but as they are an expanding group they need somthing a bit more professional and im sure there are improvments that can be made to this.

Any suggestions/comments welcome

Thanks
DarkNivek

Your mark-up is pretty good, although I think there is a lot that could be cleaned out with deference to css:

PHP Code:
<div class="headertext">Navigation:</div>
.
.
.
<
h2>Navigation:</h2

Less of the <br />!

With reference to the the "Our last major theatre show" section, having the block as one big link is rather naughty I think a click for more information would be a better idea, with the content in p tags like it should be.

In terms of design:

I'm not a fan of your hover states, the dark red doesn't quite fit imo, perhaps for the navigation the change of position will be enough (maybe with an underline)

Also, the design seems quite sharpe and unfriendly... graph paper doesn't spell variety group to me

Very nice site, as it is the I think the group would struggle not to think it's fantastic!

I have to agree about the mouse-over states for your links, I don't think the dark red/burgundy goes with the rest of your colour scheme. Also the graph paper type background does nothin for me, I'm sure you could come up with a nicer pink marble tile or something like that.

Otherwise I really did like your site.
