Avoid using that red, #CC0000 is much nice on the eye with as much of an impact still.
Other then that, using images for text doesn't do any favours for Search Engines...

Making your site entirely out of pictures not only isn't going to help with SEO, but it'll also both increase size of your site and make it more difficult for you to update.
Although, if you're quite set on using the pictures you'd be much better off at least adding relevant alt text than not. Good luck.
