The tutorials for html are the only ones that are completed. The other section are still being written.

I'd appreciate any comments. Especially those related to navigation.

Thanks

Every link i click on
- opens in a new window
- resizes my browser

If i follow a link, not only does it open a new window, but if i follow a link from that new window, it'll open *another* new window, and they're all a crazy size.

that has put me right off looking at any of the content.

the front page was clean looking, although i couldn't read the dark purple writing easily, and dont expect me to read pages of scrolling text like that

Just a tip:

If I wanted to resize my browser, I would do.

Please remove the code that resizes my browser to the size you want. As soon as it did that I closed the page - didn't even look at anything else

yeah... I too stopped looking after my browser got resized. This is one of those things that you never, ever do because it's so horribly annoying. And never, ever have links that open in new windows. If users want links to open in new windows, they can do it themselves.
Don't expect any interested visitors to get anywhere past the main page until you change this. Nobody will take web design advice from an annoying web site.

Consider just centering it instead, horizontally and vertically. Maybe even a nice border around the content.

I'm going with the other people here. Its an annoying website that are messing with my mind :-)..

If you are going for a simply design try to find a color scheme and stick to it. Its way to busy to be so simple.

First off.. the splash page...

+ / - colors... too many?

- hard to read the text on the images?
(maybe use the swirl as a watermark)
- too much use of the the swirl image...
- annoying scroller..

+ ? Is there at least one.

[EDIT]
There is one..

+ Very consistent font sizes, and use of color
[/EDIT]

Some questions

I've read everyone's suggestions and I've acted on most of them.

First: I've elimnated new windows popping up when a category is chosen from the front page.

The windows still pop up from the html, javascript, css front pages. That to let the user close the new window when they're down with the tutorial. There's a button on the bottom of each tutorial page to let them do that.

Second: Browser windows are no longer resized.

Third: the link to the link trade page is removed until I'm ready for it to be actively reused.

--------------------------------------

Some questions now...

1) I've put a different color theme in each tutorial category. HTML is green, JavaScript is blue and css is purple. The image tags were designed to reflect that. Is this a bad idea? It was meant to help a new user realize that he's in the section of the site that he meant to be. Is this a bad idea?

2) The scrolling text on the front page was so that the welcoming message could be completely above the fold. Do you have an alternate idea that you might find more comfortable?

3) Table's are used as the container in these pages. It is really worth the effor to convert these pages into a more css friendly site?

Any opinions are welcome!

No its not a bad idea,, but try to get a more of a color scheme in there. Cause now its only the graphics that has colors. So Use this http://wellstyled.com/tools/colorscheme/index-en.html
To pick a color scheme and stick with it. Use it for fonts and so on .
