Hi there,

I would appreciate some constructive criticism about my site and it's design. Please comment on any aspects you feel need attention - code architecture, HCI, colours, layout, content, usability, etc.

Be gentle!

http://www.psychonauts.info

The site is rendered identically in Opera, Firefox, and IE, as far as I know.

Pretty much valid XHTML 1 Transitional.

Thankyou!

Yeah i was just about to say, i was on OSX before i left the house this morning and noticed that the menus were a little messed up when using Safari. the site looks good. those pictures are CRAZY. i would love to go to one of those things some day. i think i could blend well with a post-modern hippie crowd.

if i could say one thing that confuses me, its the rigth menus. its too "wild" to understand unless you look at it really close. the color choice is great, the logo and menu at the top is great. i dont have any complaints about the site other than the fact that i've never witnessed another one like it so the whole presentation you're going for is very alien to me.. im an american teenager, so i'm sure most of the stuff that is going on is happening overseas. you're basically promoting raves, DJ's, and happyness (which, im guessing, could promote hallucenogens (sp?)), right?.

My Critique:

Great site. I loved it. I'm normally not a fan of the dark, black, purple, grey websites, simply because they turn me off, but it looks great. The menu isn't overdone, as is normally the case with flash menus. Loads very quickly. Great graphics and options on the index page.

Menu's on the right, as well, very nice. Flash, yet not overdone. And I'm impressde you made the HTML links at the bottom of the page. So often is it that people who create flash menus forget to include an html menu, ruining any chance with good SEO.

My only criticism to improve would be in regards to the forum. It may however not even be a problem. The forum has very little posts and threads. As a prospective user, I may leave your website because I would feel like your website didn't have an activity or members you know? I would recommend you perhaps hire some moderators to get some movement on the forum and users/members you know? You can sometimes hire moderators for no charge if you offer them some sort of free membership or the equivalent.

Hey, I think its a great site. The flash banner/menu is great and so is the right hand side of the page. My only criticism is that th box in the middle of the page (where the text is located) kind of stands out to much and doesnt fit in with the rest of the design of the page. Perhaps you could create a jagged metallic border for it or maybe just making the background colour a little darker. Other than that I think its great. Keep up the good work

Wow thanks everyone!

myownsake26: Man, I did have a quick look at the site using Safari on my brother's iBook and it looked ok - but that was a few months ago so maybe I messed it up since :/ I'll have to check that out...

To be honest, it's pretty a global phenomenon - yeah even in America. It's mostly about the music which is underground, but it has it's own amazing culture too. It's a way of life... incorporating spirituality, philosophy, the advancement of human consciousness, freewill, respect of nature, and ok hallucinogens too I guess...

Yeah I tried all kinds of alignments - I think it's the best I can do to ensure that it fits on all screens. I designed the site on my laptop which is 1600x900. I managed to get the site to fit into 800x600 but the main content stretches to take advantage of wider screens.

Yeah I totally agree - it's something I'm aware of but not sure how to fix. No one likes to talk in a forum where no one is speaking - but it's like a catch 22. People wont join unless more people join. The thing is there is another forum dealing with the same subject that has been around for longer. They have a large commmunity with thousands of users - so most of my potential audience already use that. Even though I think it looks pretty crap! Bah!

Thanks for the input, your suggestions sound like a good idea to me
