Here's a site I've recently updated with Flash MX 2004. The entire site is encased in a component that consumes xml to identify the width, height and content .swf for each page. It allows top-level pages to communicate with each other through the public methods of the AS2 component, resizing the canvas to accommodate the ria or flash movie you're loading. That said, I built a Flash blog front-end for MovableType as an example of how the component can be used as a platform for rias. There's also a picture gallery built into the component framework I'm using. The whole thing runs on AMF-PHP Flash Remoting. Known Issues:
All your feedback is welcome and don't be afraid to be critical. That's why I took the time to post -- bring it! Mike Britton

I dont know much about flash but it's a good site. Does take alittle while to load the first bit of it. Though i noticed that i can't use the scroll baar so i can't see all the content. When i tried to load the weblog i get an error from Flash

again.. the back button is very important... it's a huge turn down for someone if they can't go back to where they were.. other than that.. it is very well done, no problems here.. loads relatively fast here on T1 line..

I'm trying to avoid putting up a splash page with computer / bandwidth recommendations. Truly this is a hi-bandwidth app though, so I may give in on this one.
The ability to "remember" the user's settings (back button) will also be added. This is a good recommendation. Mike |
