It's taken me awhile to get back here, sorry, been a touch busy. But I do appreciate all the input! The site has been growing at a decent pace, so I'm please with that. I think the feedback I've got from here has also helped with that, which is cool.

I made the 1st page a lot more descriptive. It gives a complete explanation of the site and it's purpose, so no one can say they don't know what the site is for or about from the very first page.

The theme... again, I could have easily installed one of a 1000 free templates. All very slick and professional looking, which is exactly what we didn't want. Then we would have looked no different from the 1000's of other sites just like ours. The 'home made' look is done on purpose, to amplify the fact it's a people based site, made by everyday people, and for everyday people. As opposed to some slick site made by a nameless faceless corporation that is trying to make a profit from it and couldn't care less about those that actually use the site.
Also, the member design freedom on the site is perhaps our most popular feature. Rather then confine our members into preselected templates, they can do their own designing by mixing and matching backgrounds and text colours as they please. The Forums and Journal features allow even more member freedom in design, and it gets positive feedback from our members all the time. In fact, I have plans to allow members more liberty in design for their profile pages, so they can have their personal profile page 'unique' and looking just how they want it to look.
All of this, is impossible with a hard coded template (or templates), and exactly the reason none were used.

I do like the idea of the rounded corners on the menus, and even on the header flash. Not positive how to accomplish this, I'll have to look for some tuts on it. But it's a good idea and I think I'll try and add it to the site, thanks.
