Hello folks,
I would appreciate some eyes on this one. It was uploaded live just last night under a bit of pressure from the client. I know it is not 100% perfect yet. If anyone spots any bugs can you let me know which browser/platform/screen res you are using etc... http://www.smartopinion.com.au/ Last edited by edwinbrains : August 13th, 2004 at 01:35 AM. |

quality workmanship
a few points thought 800x600 in firefox results in a horizontal scroll bar, i think if you removed the margin on the left you should get rid of that. the banner at the top could probably be separated into two with the middle bit as background colour, this might cut loading time a little bit, although the extra http request would probably negate any gains. the right edge of the smart opinion bit of the banner, is only two pixels off lining up with the side bar, why not shave those 2px off? on a design side, there is too much coffee!, i like a good cup of the black stuff myself, but you have 4 cups on your first page! and only one reference to coffee in the text, that's just silly ![]() everything else is looking pretty sharp though, it's nice to see a site that isn't tables based isn't it? ![]() edit, somethings i forgot to mention the first time: on your contact section, it would be nice to see the labels, made using the label element, very simple to do, but adds a touch of class. for those with modern browsers i usally use input:focus{something} i usually like to put a litte, cursor: pointer, for the buttons. n.b. these are just things i like to see on a site, most users won't notice them especially if they're using msie grr. |

Like the site. Quick loading, nice effects, crisp. Obviously no content under privacy and news. I cant spot any bugs with IE6.

I have just put up an updated version but still waiting for more content from the client. Three: good point about the Contact Form and using labels - something I need to brush up on. I haven't coded the FormMail script for that page yet. 800x600 is scrolling horizontally? What's your monitor size - 17inch? Yes, a few bugs in Firefox. I am waiting for the content then will run the full validation check.

my monitor size is actually 15.4inch (laptop
), but i use an extension with firefox to resize the browser to get an idea of how things look, and i get a horizontal scroll bar when viewing on 800x600, it might just be an issue with the way i'm doing itlabels are nice and easy, just <label for="something">Legend</label> <input id="something" /> |

Three,
OK - I had a feeling you were on a 'smaller' monitor. That's good feedback though. Haven't used FormMail script for a while and am a bit out of touch with coding a standards-based form. Thanks for the tips. |

are you mocking the size of my monitor?
![]() i rely on a form script by big nose bird, it works, so i haven't taken the time to write one myself, it doesn't help that my knowledge of php is limited to if and else ![]() |
