IMO it's a bit too green. I think blue headings would be more appropriate.

You could use newsletters and you have an RSS feed but you don't really mention it apart from the icon at the bottom of the page.

Maybe add some pictures to the page to brighten it up a little.

Newsletters/RSS feed not right for the target audience.

I agree about the colours... just need to try and tweak

I would suggest tweaking overall colors. Also I would change your adsense boxes so they don't stick out quite so much. Getting click thrus are a big goal ofcourse but if the only thing about a site that is memorable is the adsense boxes then nobody is ever going to come back.
