Big problem: not fitted for 800x600 resolution browsers. It actually looks nice otherwise. Nice and simple. Just that one problem in my opinion.

I agree with Mikazuchi point. I think the best way to achieve this would be to size the site using relative measurements, that way if done well the site will be readable in whatever size window.
Also: Your code does not validate as xhtml 1.0 strict, there just seem to be a few small problems, and a few iterations of debugging should see your code validate. A change in shape of the links (the ones in the text, not the menu) on hover would improve accessibility and usability. Looks good, keep it up |

I'd add rounded corners to the navigation links. It would be more consitent with the rest of the page.
