http://www.webstatsgold.com
I am trying to test two intro pages on this site to find out which works the best. My subject matter is about as dull as dirt, so I am trying to find ways to not only make it appealing, but understandable. If you good people could take a look and give me your comments and suggestions, I would certainly appreciate it.
The first page is http://www.webstatsgold.com/default.htm This one is supposed to target benefits and results of the site rather than product. The second is http://www.webstatsgold.com/index.htm This is the original version I am trying to concentrate on results and benefits to the client. Does either of these pages accomplish or even approach that goal? Which page has more appeal? What can I do to improve the site? Thanks and regards, Will Last edited by edwinbrains : September 8th, 2004 at 04:01 PM. |

I like the original one better, a main page should give a brief overview of what the site is about, the new page has way too much text a new customer would read. You can go into detail in other pages. Any potential customer who would read the brief description / offer, will search for more info when interested. With so much info thrown at them at the same time you might scare away potential customers to begin with because they might not want to bother getting to know what your offer is.
It should explain in a summary what the company is about, what they have to offer, why people would want to use it and how much it'll cost.... which is exactly what the original page does.... Those "customers reviews" could be in a link in the menu, not on the main page. Customers don't want all the details right away. A main page of a website is like a poster, if you see a poster about a congress you're not going to read it all if it's printed full with text. Just like it's easy to walk past the poster, it's easy to click the website away. The front page of a magazine doesn't have all the text on it either, it just displays what people will find when digging deeper. |
