katieoswald.net concept
Hmm, I don't know why this post was deleted before, but, here's a concept for katieoswald.net, tell me what you like and what you don't (regarding the general design and layout) and how I can make it better.

really, all i need is a few opinions on 1) what i should do to make it less plain. 2) if you like the design or not. Please, your opinion matters. Thank you.

it looks allright to me, nothing special stands out IMO. one point i do notice is that its suppost to be about katie doing different sounds/voices and i dont see that theme in the actual design.

what should I add to make it more theme-major oriented?

EDIT: Sorry didnt see link half way down page
Anyway, I like the general design of the page, but you could make it more eye catching. Make sure, when people see your page for the first time they are going to remember it. First impression is so important, just make sure your potential employer gets the right one. Kodergeek ![]() |

well i would suggest a bit of a different color scheme and then make a really nice header banner with some links under it. I think where you went wrong was making it pink and purple, i think you probably based that on because your client was female and you wanted to make a female oriented website design. What you need to do is think of what the person has to offer as a business more than gender, and take it from there.

She wanted me to use pink and purple. I like to have my designs very crisp looking, I think I did a really good job with this one; however, I'm still trying to think up something to emphasize her talent more to make it more noticable as soon as you enter the site.
I like how I did the current banner it is clean and neat, there must be another way to emphasize her talent. |

It's Katie Oswald's site, right? Does she talk to herself in third-person, as the site suggests? "What Can Katie Do?" and "Contact Her Now".
I'm not the master in the graphics field, but in the logo, you have a line under "Katie Oswald." Instead of just a line, why not have it as a voiceprint from a spectrascope and a pair of lips mixed into it all? The purple and pink make it look professional, but the squiggle background makes it look girly... Try an extremely rich purple color as the background, possibly #150217? Hope it helps... |

It would help to know who your intended audience is before making subjective comments regarding the look of the site. My instant impression, if my assumption about target audience is correct, is that the site is too familiar and personal-homepage-looking and should adopt a more professional and corporate look.
Whenever I produce a design I always question whether or not I would be influenced as a potential customer - would I feel confident buying products or services from this company. If you can understand your target audience and answer that question positively then you needn't ask those who have little or no experience what their opinions are. I quite 'like' the design of the site - but I would question whether the 'design' is appropriate. Form follows function always....!! |

The links at the very top kind of disappear into the background for me. The page also seems rather narrow even at 800x600, at anything larger there is a ton of empty space.
I do like the banner you have used with the microphone. I think if you brought the lighter purples on the left down to match the header text and the bar on the right it might make it look better. But it does look good as it is.
