My graphic designer and I have come up with this front page (coded proof) for our client.

What do you think? Is there anything we're missing. Are there efficiency problems with the code? Is the design tawdry? How about the User Interface; is it easy to figure out what you need to do etc.?

btw, the quick buys area (content inside) is not official - we just stuck something there to show the dark_blue on grey background.

CLICKY

thanks in advance,
Taylor

Generally, I think the design's really, really nice. Intuitive navigation, clean and attractive layout. The only issue I can find is that larger than expected text size makes the links at the bottom of the page move over the logo image - and even that's not really a serious issue at all.

Your code could use a little work, though. Validation throws up 29 errors right now. They all look like pretty minor things: unnecessary or missed attributes, wrong capitalisation for method="post", misplaced inputs and &s in URLs that should be &s. I can see you've been sticking to good practices in the code, and it's worth just fixing up these minor 'oops'es.

Maybe it's also worth looking into image alt tags and such, depending on how much your client cares about accessibility. Bear in mind that such enhancements might help you out with some search engines too.

Overall, looks like a very good job.

Looks good. You may want to make the background fixed so that it doesn't scroll with the rest of the page. On some monitors those scanline backgrounds flicker a lot when scrolled.

Hi,

Nice design, although 1 thing that niggles me straight away, your log in button does not line up the password field, maybe push it over to the left a bit to line up :P

Jack!
