New Site- StopIE.com

Hi there,

Have a look at my new site: StopIE

Its a non-profit venture aimed at turning people away from MS Internet Explorer and on to better things.

It's not 100% finished, but is up and running.

Let me know what you all think.

Regards,
Stephen O'Brien StopIE

Ha - I have also felt the urge to vent about IE over the years so well done for putting up the site. I like the blog-style look & feel and the minimalist design. You have some strange rollover effects happening in the left navbar (on my iMac running Mozilla 1.5 anyway). There is a noticable time delay of about a second until the link turns red on hover and then it indents slightly. Not sure if you meant that or not?

Hasnt IE become one of the W3C Compliant browsers now and in sp2 they have fixed numerous bugs that you have listed on your site. Why so much hate towards IE. Have you ever used IE on mac, which is totally different and doesnt have the same bugs? I like the idea, but I dont like the supporting facts of the site. I do agree with dave, however, I do as a programmer / designer need to design for all browsers including IE so i program for Konq, Mac, IE, Mozilla Complient (Netscape, Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox) and any other browser that may throw in a different curve! However Like I said i like the idea but I dont like the supporting facts that your site provides.

Hi Stepheno,

I agree, IE sucks. But if you want to get rid of it, you should not advertise for it. See attachment.

i think your whole site could do with a run through a spelling and grammer checker, maybe M$ Word

i like the design though, and i too hope M$ don't sue, make sure you don't slip into slandering them, as they will take you to the cleaners.

That's not intentional, I must investigate it. Thanks.

Thanks. What happened when you accessed the site?

Hasnt IE become one of the W3C Compliant browsers now and in sp2 they have fixed numerous bugs that you have listed on your site.
No, it is not standards compliant. It renders a core CSS principle, the box model, wrongly, and is still bug ridden.

Why so much hate towards IE. Have you ever used IE on mac, which is totally different and doesnt have the same bugs? I like the idea, but I dont like the supporting facts of the site.
You're right, I've never tried IE on the mac. Perhaps you could clarify which points you don't like?

I do agree with dave, however, I do as a programmer / designer need to design for all browsers including IE so i program for Konq, Mac, IE, Mozilla Complient (Netscape, Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox) and any other browser that may throw in a different curve! I'd love if you could explain further. Thanks for taking time out to have a look.

That's scary! Will be adding that to my Adsense url filter list...

Will do.

I'm not to worried for the moment, but I will be updating the (c) info etc soon.

If youve ever programmed you would know and see the difference in display between browsers expecially since M$ only has support for Full CSS Level 1 which throws everything in a curve when trying to program more advanced pages. They promised w3c compliancy a few years ago, but i guess liars will always still be liars.

As far as IE on mac, its far better, you have less vulnurablities because M$ cant control the os and Mac DOESNT allow them Active x or certain web widgets that makes them so vulnurable to viruses, crackers and script kiddies, it acts similer to Mozilla, except not really like it, for example it has to cache everything, it doesnt support active x, its controlled by mac not by windows, it wont lock up on pages like IE does to me all the time on my windows machine :P when I try and check my design in it! However it still has a few bugs, that of which i dont take time to look at because 1.) dont really care 2.) its not allowed to get past my devnet so its not on the internet anyways :P I will agree with you there are several bugs in the coding on mac too, mostly because I dont think M$ knows what they are doing anyways, you cant expect to hire 300 indian programmers and then get the job done right if you cant speack their lang. and they cant program worth nothing, which makes M$ a sell out anyways, as far as them sueing people, eh, thats kid games, they cant sue because he is stating facts, facts are not and cannot be considered slanderization, because it needs to be known that M$ doesnt protect its uesers, plus he is covered anyways, M$ cant access his site if he puts at the top, if you are fbi, cia, Microsoft representative or a worker for microsoft you are NOT allowed to view this site, this site is protected under the internet privacy act signed by bill clinton! Then they are completly screwed!
