OK, well, offshore outsourcing is an issue that will affect most of us computer workers sooner or later. In one way or the other.

So a friend and I started a site about:

http://www.oocenter.com/click.php?code=devshed1

So basically, I would like your views and opinions on the website and what you think we like to achieve. If you like it, feel free to stay.

Thanks,
Till

What a great idea for a community-based website.

The layout is clean - mainly text/html based, with little graphics, which helps keep the focus on the content.

I'm not sure if imbedding the forum on the lower RH side of the homepage is a good design move ... it looks very cramped. Since the vB forum is the basis for the site, you should put this front and center on the homepage, not down in the corner.

Also, during the forum registration process, the image w/ text for you to type in doesn't appear (browser: Mozilla Firebird), making forum registration difficult.

Otherwise, great idea - hopefully it takes off.

few minor things

i'd make the left column, news, a bit shorter - draw more attention to the forums, but thats just a personal thing

the other one i noticed is a distinct lack of a privacy statement; since people post information, you should have one to protect yourself

great site otherwise, good luck with it!

The site looks great and I agree the first reply that it is a great idea for a website. My one suggestion would be to keep in mind all the possible users that might visit your site. I would make the forum width a bit larger and the news on the left a bit smaller. I view my screen at the SMALLEST at 1280X1024. Most people don't view their work at that resolution. At this rate the news is large, 1/3 of the site. It isn't bad at my resolution, but shrunk down to a 800X600, the news looks to be AS important as the forum and the forum should really be larger. Just try and make the news on the left about half the size of what you have it set at now.

I'm not too sure, but I dont' think you can advertise for your site here. Someone was banned last week for doing something very similar.

I didn't recieve a complaint or anything and its been like a week ago (almost) that I posted the info.

If it's not wanted and some of the mods tell me, I'll edit the post, or they will.

I'm still looking for feedback. From the suggestions I got here, we tweaked the site a lot.
