Coding, not compliant HTML :-) There are missing buttons, the layout is better that the old one. Also, I am presuming that you have a bit of flash in there. It may be better providing an alternative for people that don't have flash. You could embed it as an <object>, that way at least you can provide alternative text.

On the new one there are too many search boxes, quick search and search option 1?
the licence plates on the top banner look broken in half. State the purpose of your site clearly, so people don't have to second guess. The 128 SSL box is also not clear enough, I think some people wuold not know what 128 SSL is, so probably its better to add more descriptive words on top of that. Try user profiling, its simple, think of a potential site visitor(s). Imagine his /her lifestlye, tech knowlegde, income level, education, yeah stereotype the person. And then, ask yourself will that person understand your site? You could look at your local paper / magazine, cut someone's head out that could fit that description, just to put a face on your imaginary visitor. The older site has something cool, and its that there are not much stuff your could do there, not much distraction, yep a lot like google. Usability link: Hick's Law - The time it takes to make a decision increases as the number of alternatives increases. (taken from book: Universal Principles Of Design | Rockport publisher) All the best! |
