Yea, its very frustrating having to register first, and that will put off most visitors. You should let them get a feel of the forum first, and then if they like it they'll join.

Judging by what I saw from the Log In page, the skins alright, but I cant really judge. From first impressions I would say its to dark. The banner needs to be change quickly, as it really annoying.

nickjc is right, i had my forums set to "force guests to login" but on the advice from a friend my guests now view the board first! then they can post if they like what they see.
I get new members everyday...i was bothered that i would'nt... but there you go..it works!
