Not bad overall, but one thig that has GOT to change is the black text on a dark blue background. If I came to your site and had trouble reading the text I wouldn't feel confident paying you to develop a site for me.

Other than that, like I say, not bad at all

I agree. The black text/dark blue background must go. Personally, I think content should be on a white background with dark grey text. It's easy on the eyes that way. I realize that doesn't fit into every design, but it is what I would recommend.

I'm not that big of a fan of the menu. I think maybe some rollovers would greatly improve the design.

One last thing. Try not to have unfinished pages online. If a customer is taking a look at your site and they see something unfinished, they may consider that is unprofessional. This is regarding your "Ideas" page.

Whenever I critique a webdesign company I always look at thier portfolio first, this is becuase If I wanted a site designed, I would do the same. And to be honest, I dont like yours at all. The tables borders are kind of tacky, the white header of each table looks pretty random and the content is just not nice....
1.Links dont need full URL's to be displayed [www] would be a much nicer way to put the link.
2.The "package type" bit isn't all that nessersary.
3. Date completed could have an actual date if it is complete or an ETA if it's not.

All right, thank you VERY much guys, it's great to get some feedback. Yeah, I kind of thought that the text color was 'off'. I wasn't sure, but I will change that per your suggestions. This was kind of my first 'Complete' website, something that was actually going to go into action and not just sit on my HD, and I figured some stuff out that I like and don't like, so I actually made a whole new site, and I will post that up sometime soon and maybe you guys could take a look at that one too. Thanks!!!

My thoughts are this. There are some GREAT components in your site that show a great eye for design. And there are some design flaws that show that you just don't have that much experience. That's not a bad thing. You learn as you go. That's how we all learn.

What I like most is your header. It's clean and the colors are great.

You did, as mentioned above, break a major design rule in putting dark-on-dark for your content. No biggie, i'm sure you won't do that again.

One rule you didn't break, which many newbies do, is that you didn't use ugly, oversized fonts. Great job.

The over-all feel of the site is pretty good. What I really don't like is the menu. You embossed the menu so it appears two dimensional, but you embossed a little too much. Make it much, much more flat.

Other than that. Keep up the good work!

Niccccce, thank you echazen, I LOVE hearing those types of comments. That's EXACTLY what i'm looking for. Thanks dude, perhaps you wouldn't mind reviewing another? www.webmagikdesigns.com/portfolio/herrickdev/
This site is about 85% done, I just need to add some content to some pages, and I'm aware that the Houses page doesn't work. But it's all ASP/AccessDB Driven, and it's also my first attempt at ASP/Access. But I like this one a lot more then MY webpage. I think the colors are more visually appealing.

I like the overall feel of this site, although when i first went to it, i thought it was for a soccer team rather than a development site. the hexagons on the left, being in that circular patern with a select few being filled in gave the feel of a soccer ball to me. i dunno, maybe i'm the only one seeing that and i'm just tired

for your title area, i would use the same background color as the content area. the title being more purple than the rest of the page just seems unbalanced. also, there is too much text up there, it looks like an ad. I would suggest having "WEBMAGIk DESIGNS" on there, along with maybe the "beleive in us, beleive in magik" text, but at the bottom of the image, and in a smaller font. you dont want your title to be too crowded, or else people won't bother reading it at all

"site map:" next to your links should go. no need for it

alright, about your table structure. I would keep the design of your tables consistant. I like the white title across the whole table with blue text. use that on your pricing page. oh, and on your portfolio page, the title text is white-on-white. might want to fix that.

for your ideas page: unless you have templates and designs to fill in this page, i would drop the page all together. and if you do have them, i would once again use the consistant table structure i had suggested earlier, with a title of the template, and preview image(maybe 200x200)

contact page: your contact information and company information should be on separate pages. company information is not contact information, so why not give it its own page?

good job overall

Okay thanks dude, I was in a rush when I changed all the text to white, and I must have forgotten to change a couple of them back to black. I will get rid of the Site Map thingie, but the only thing I disagree on is the Company Info / Contact. What does everyone else think?

Cheers,
Tyler

PS. Thanks for your comments/suggestions!
