Why not post our site...
This is the site I designed for our company.
http://www.rml-lab.com Please blast away! I work for a medical reference laboratory that performs laboratory services to several local hospitals and all the outlying doctor offices within about a 60 mile radius. Thanks. |

I think you need to do some image optimizations. Your home page took several seconds to load on a cable modem, I can only imagine what dial-up would be like. Your image swaps are slow too, again, probably due to image size.

Hmm
What would you suggest then, my largest image is 12k and all the others are under 4k so that shouldn't be a problem I wouldn't think.

I'm not certain, but I don't think your preload image function is working. Does it ever get called in the document?
I think if you get the preload function working, the load time will seem a lot faster. You could decrease the amount of images with text in them by using CSS. That would probably be quite a bit of work at this point, but it would help decrease the sites size. A few easy tricks that would help decrease the sites size: Use external style sheets and external JavaScript files. That way the user doesn't have to download that same information on every page. You might consider making a class for these: <div style="padding-left: 25px; padding-right: 22px"> That seems to occur a lot, and making a class for it would decrease redundant information and file size on every page of your site. Any other places where you have redundant style, consider making it into a class. Your site looks awesome! I'm impressed with the design. ![]()

I like it. Not much to say about it except that it took a little bit to load on a cable connection...

As the others have said - quite a while to load - but looks very impressive when it does

Thanks, and I'll take note of the changes you all recommended. I was being pressured to get the site up right away to compete with another laboratory in our area.
Will now have the time to go back and tweak a few things. Thanks for the comments and will post some of my other projects when I get some time. |
