www.ElementHipHop.com
Hi everyone! I'm new here and I can totally say that this is a hot spot for webmasters, etc. Well, I was wondering if you guys could give me an honest critique on my site. I wanted to know what's good, what's bad and what I need to change to make my site better. Thanks everyone!
Here's the link to my site by the way. www.elementhiphop.com |

I mean that's all I see... "Click here to get the plugin"... I assume it's flash or something. While it's fine to use that, and it can make for a nice site, it's recommended you include at least _something_ that's not within flash so people can get an idea of what the sites about...

The only flash on my site is the entrance but everything else is built with php and html. You'll notice that there's "Skip Intro" underneath it so people "without flash component" can get in.

Here is what I see... no link to click on in Mozilla.

Hmmm...I use IE 6. Do you always get that on every flash site or is it just my site? Try getting the plug-in then.

I don't want to load Flash for Mozilla... that's my point.
![]() I have it in IE if I _really_ need to see something in Flash. It's good that you're providing a "Skip Intro" link; I like that. I was just pointing out that you can't see it in Mozilla. ---John Holmes... |

This is what I see in my Morzilla. You should maybe have a "hand" cursor when you mouse over the enter text -> otherwise it is quite confussing..

Wow! Now that's a little bit off. The critiques is still stuck in the front page lol.
Are you referring to javascript? [hand] I might check it out and do that later on. Has anyone even saw the main page? lol Here's the main page BTW, www.elementhiphop.com/forums/portal.php |

Well it took me a while to realize there was another page until I clicked the "enter" text
As for the site itself, the main banner 3, as it is called is way too big and gives no indication about what it does -> which it appears is a redirect link that didn't work on my PC. Otherwise OK, but is there a mising picture or something, see attached. |

First off, the skip intro did not work for me using Netscape. It did work with IE. Did not try Mozilla, Firebird, Opera or Dillo.
Second, you should learn to use a validator. I am fairly new to posting in this group, only because I belong to so many other design groups. But I am amazed that in all the groups, there are so many people that want to be web developers, yet they do not even care to make sure that their own code is correct. I ran your page through a validator: results: Errors: 141 As far as the site itself. The design fits the subject matter quite nicely. I would only recommend that you do not have so much information of the main page. There is too much scrolling and it makes it hard to see what is there. On reading the above, I realized it might seem kind of harsh. Please understand that I am only interested in improving the quality of the web. Incorrect coding can cause a lot of browsers to react differently. There are so many people trying to create web sites and the quality is very poor. Try to strive to do the best that can be done. It reflects well on all web developers to do so. |
