Here are a few suggestions:
1. Add a footer to the bottom for easy access to your contact info 2. Get rid of the text behind your name 3. Sharpen up the text "specializing in...." 4. Create a contact form 5. Elaborate on your services and maybe bullet them out 6. More Graphics Regards, Cuda |

Justify text alignment, make navigation menu and header graphic of same width (recude/add/enlarge appropriate elements).

The grey background with the white lines crossing could be developed into a cool idea. The colours your using aren't complimentary to my eyes. The light brown and green really don't go with each other at all.
The menu could be a lot more interesting. You could for example use a thinner dark grey menu background with white text (this would match the white in the top grey banner with its white lines). Also make the menu the same width as the top banner. On the top banner I'd removedthe brown bit with the text 'specializing in ....'. I'd use a nice sans-serif font such as gill sans etc, something easier to read and less fussy. Actually I'd put a darker grey bar across the top of your current banner with the 'specializing ....' strapline over the top of it. I'd change your font to either arial, gillsans, etc and experiment with it at a smaller size. Use your news border idea to encompass the entire page, this might help to bring the page together, at the moment it looks like elements of it are floating and have been placed at random. To help this problem, you might consider using a simple footer (perhaps copying the top banner I suggested earlier but without the text). The image of the 3 pc's on the world looks dull and contrived. How about a closeup of a good quality image with an interesting texture (circuit board, etc whatever....). Use the same font throughout the site, don't mix fonts. Just my opinions. I am a designer, but that doesn't mean to say I'm right obviously, design is subjective. Browse the web and note what you like on websites and develop and use those ideas. I'm always looking for website by looking at all types of media, books, film, architecture etc. Good luck with the site. |

Develop a site template that suits the purpose of your site and try to use it consistently in your site. Search the web for some professional ideas.
If you specialize in site design in particular, you have to display professionalism, structure, planning and organization - may need to polish it up a little. Play around with Photoshop a bit to see if you can polish up your banner. Search on the web and see what kind of images and symbols present what you want to get across through your graphic. And make sure not to overdue it (keep it clean) and never resort to clip art unless they are professional looking photos and present something needed for your site. I use this site to get free, professional, stock photos http://www.sxc.hu/browse.phtml then I adjusted them in photoshop to fit the mode of my website. Otherwise, good start. |
