Www.megaskates.com
I used to be a speed skater, and my former coach has an online store for skates. I met with him about it. He wants to be able to compete with some other sites, but he isn't getting the results he wanted. First thing I thought once I visited the site is that it looks dated, the logo and layout needs redone, and the site needs more character.
What do you guys think? I'm open to any ideas and any criticism is welcomed. I didn't design the site so I don't care.

Here is his main competitor.

Add a border to your images. The white of the image touching your dark background is extremely tacky. try... this...
Code:
.productimage {
padding:3px;
border:1px solid #ccc;
}

Some suggestions:
Reduce length of first page - header takes up a lot of space
organize it more - not a fan of the competitor, but the navigation to find products is nicer
return policy/shipping/Get sizing pages are boring - vary the style a bit
speed is VERY slow
Be consistent - navigation and style changes once you go to a product page
Good Luck!

Why doesn't that background image continue through the whole page? It like stops and starts again at the bottom... Looks weird to me.

Try a lighter shade of blue. Also the text seems very fancy and childish, such as the logo and search submit button. All the other text looks fine.
Mainly, just just work on your color scheme.

It looks a little dated to me, but if it gets the traffic then its OK I guess.
The title / logo bar just looks a bit of a mess. Tiny logo on white, against a blue background. Also the two Verification stamps look out of place there. Better to place at the base of the page as people wont take much notice of them anyway. If the site looks professional they will assume it is above board anyway.

Precisely why won't which history photograph keep on throughout the entire web page? It like ceases and will begin once again in the bottom... Looks weird if you ask me.

This four year old thread (with a year old "stop trying to critique this it's too old" message) is now closed. Honestly people, learn to read.
