Www.spurslatest.co.uk Review (Football/soccer site)
I would really appreciate a review of my new website. I put it together partly to learn to use wp-o-matic, and partly because I am a Tottenham Hotspur fan.
The site takes relevant stories from across the web using RSS feeds. I want it to be visited regularly and in the design have aimed to get people to sign up to the newsletter, write on the comments wall etc.
I'd really appreciate any impressions on look and feel. Would you come back (if you were a Spurs fan)?
If anyone wants to sign up for the newsletter and comment on that that would be great appreciated by me too (you can unsubscribe anytime).

It's not a bad over-all design. However, at smaller resolutions, like Laptops it has a horizontal scroll bar .. which is bad.
I like the design, maybe if you could get hold of a nice vector background, something quite light but not obtrusive to the center it would help to create less of a dark shadowy scary page, you could then fix the vector, top middle and that would look nice having the main center scroll down over it.
Its quite slow to load. But maybe that's just for me.
Overall its well designed, clean and simple. If I was a Tottenham Hot Spurs fan I would come back again.
I have now enabled full caching, including on the database, so hopefully it is faster. I cant afford dedicated hosting though so am sharing a box.

Thanks. I've made a lot of changes in the last month and I think it looks a lot more professional now.

Any thoughts on the new site, or on the competition?

It looks fine, considering someone else developed it. Did you read the sticky on the web critique section? If so, here's a reminder:
11. Please don't submit sites which are obviously using pre-made templates or default themes.
If you haven't, do.
This is a WORDPRESS THEME. You may have tweeked it a bit, but it's a WP theme, nonetheless.

Apologies if I broke that rule. I assumed that referred to out of the box templates. I used a Wordpres theme but heavily customised it, rewriting much of the css so it is unique.

The signup form for the email updates and the free competition are great.
I have entered. Wish me luck!
Your site looks good to me and it loads good too.
