Hi All,
Was wondering if you can review all aspects of my site, id greatly appreciate seeing any ideas you have to make it better, what you think of design, if SSL works for you and everything like that. Is the speed reasonable for you?? Thanks! http://www.terfex.com/ Last edited by edwinbrains : August 24th, 2004 at 08:18 AM. |

Looks a bit...grey. Speed is good. Homepage weighs in at 39.8K which would take 8-9 seconds to load on a 56K dial-up modem. 21 images but well optimised. Your doctype needs to be in CAPS at the start for HTML transitional. Crikey - nested table central (not good IMO). Welcome blurb is too long - pushes the images of products below the fold. Search box should be top left or right. Navigation elements are clear. huh - Daggers?? Who wants to buy one of those...

I'm not sure I agree that the welcome blurb is too long. I actually think it would be better to have an "About" page and put that statement there. It just prevents the user from seeing the merchandise first.
The colors, IMO, are fine. The design of an ecommerce site should not distract from the products. One thing I would look at is the color of the a:hover for the "Categories" section. I think it is too soft/light. Finally, as stated above, the code is a mess. Luckily, your site loads fast so it isn't a necessity to fix it, but it could use some optimization. I believe you could easily reduce the page size if you would move towards a HTML/CSS design. |
