A restart is pending. bootstrapper error has occurred

So I reinstalled Windows the other day and am now in the process of reinstalling software. I had gone to install Nero, as well as Windows Updates. During the initialization of Nero, it said reboot required, however I said reboot later as I was still doing Windows updates. I eventually rebooted and installed Nero.

I am now trying to install Adobe CS5.5. It goes to extract and says an error occurred. Check hard disk space and privileges... (I have more than enough room on the drive: 30+GB, and I am an admin... I check the extracted location, and notice most files are there, so I check the Setup file. Upon running that, it says an error occurred, and to download Adobe Support Advisor. I did that, and it shows me 2 instances of "A restart is pending".

I have talked to Adobe support. They havent offered too much useful info.
I have uninstalled Nero. (And tried running the Nero Clean Tool)
I have searched out the registry for various keys which I have come across:
InProcess (This was from Adobe Support Advisor help link on error)
CurrentRebootAttempts
PendingFileRenameOperations

InProcess and CurrentRebootAttempts were not found.
PendingFileRenameOperations was there and I deleted it

I have rebooted the computer many times after various changes.

I have disabled windows installer, rebooted, then set it to manual.

I have spent most of the day trying to figure this out, so any help would be appreciative.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate.
Oh.. and the software is legit. Upon my searches, I saw people saying illegal software was the reason, so figured I'd mention that this is a legal copy that I'm trying to install.

If you need further info, let me know.

Thanks.

EDIT: Where InProcess is supposed to be listed, I did notice this:
BootExecute REG_MULTI_SZ autocheck autochk *
C:\PROGRA~2\AVG\AVG2012\avgrsa.exe /sync /restart

Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but can't find any useful info online about what that's for...

My guess would be that these two things which both wanted to do something "on reboot" managed to trip each other up. If Nero for example said "Do this" as opposed to "Also do this", then all the actions that windows update were expecting to do would be lost.

Do you have any restore points available before you started to install Nero?

Thanks for the reply... I ended up deleting all keys related to some sort of pendingrename or reboot that seemed like wasn't needed and it ended up working. Not sure which one as my test was to run the Adobe Advisor program which kept giving me the same error messages. I finally just tried reinstalling Adobe CS5 and it worked..

(Didn't have any useful restore points available)

At least it's working now.
