Accessing server from the outside world
Can anybody tell me what I have to do next......
I have a server with Windows 2000 Server installed. I also have 2 laptops and a pc. The PC is the main computer from the broadband. All the computers are connected to a network. I have set up a virtual directory on the server for my content but I cannot access the individual ip address from the outside world. I currently have ZoneALarm on the main PC and have been told to set up a subset. Surely this isn't all of it. Do I have to configure the main PC so I can allow access from outside and then how do I configure it so I can see the server? Please, any help will do. Thanking you smilla |

"The PC is the main computer from the broadband. "
So you are running a service on that computer which allows you to access the internet? If so, you need to set it up (if possible) to forward requests on port 80 to the server (assumming port 80 is not blocked by your ISP). If the software doesn't allow you to do this, you need to buy a router or directly connect the server to your modem. |

Thanks for your advice
You mentioned 'the service' on my main pc, this is just networked through to my server & others using ICS. You mentioned that I have to forward from main pc to server through port 80, how would I do this? finally, how can I check whether port 80 is blocked. thanking you smilla |
