Advice regarding transferring files to from NT to Linux
Hello,
I am currently building a simple parse/notify tool that will view certain Windows NT related logs, namely the event log and Legato daemon.log files.
The notification tool resides on a Linux machine that is well protected yet does not provide "production" services. I need to move the Windows logs to the Linux machine. This process needs to be able to run automatically via a Windows batch file.
I have looked into scp for Windows and ActiveState Perl as methods of transferring these files to the Linux machine. Installing a command-line scp tool on the NT machine seems to be the less intrusive of my options.
Let me clarify that last statement: The NT boxes are fragile and I'm going to have a tough time getting our admins to install anything new on the machines, so I need to pick the lightest solution. This is not an admin crack, just the truth as we are working through our OS migration path.
Is a command-line scp the way to go?
