Works is a now obsolete application. It was designed for Windows so it is not clear why you are asking the question. Version 8.0 was the last one I know specifically can run on XP. What is you goal who sync calendars with that you need this particular product.

    Thanks for that
Yes I know I am a dinosaur, I still use
"works" for finance ,and other boring jobs
Perhaps my question was not clear , when I switch on the computer,I need the calender to be the first thing I see ,wallpaper I believe it is called, this is because I am forgetful and need my reminders in front of me on a daily basis.
    thanks

You can put a shortcut to ms works in the startup folder of the list of all programs.

It will startup when you login is complete.
Here how to do on vist but the procedure is the same for xp.

There may be a way to configure works to have a startup screen on the calendar.
