Cant get internet shareing working

hi
i have two wind2k machines and have them networked via a switch using dhcp. one of them has two network cards one with network sharing enabled and is connected to a cable modem. the two computers can see each other and ping each other over the network however no matter what i do i can't get internet shareing to work. I have tried

* using dhcp and static addressing
* using ipconfig /renew
* turning off modem and all computers then turing them back on.

could someone please help me as im very near to complete meltdown!!!

Not an exact answer, but imho the easiest way to prevent this kind of meltdown is to get an external cable/dsl router like a Linksys. About $50.00 US these days.

Otherwise search the MS knowledgebase, I believe there are some articles about enabling Internet Connection Sharing on broadband connections.

from what i can recall from win2k is u need to enable routing and remote acess server......using the rras wizard there is an internet connection field to ck.....(its been awhile so bear with me)....but im with doug....a router would be the way to go for me(only 40bucks)..built in firewall....and this way both pcs can be behind the switch to create your virtual lan(just a tad more protection)....hope this helps

right the internet connection on the pc with the internet, go to properties, make sure the internet connection sharing is checked to allow other computers to use it. and if you have a firewall, may want to disable it till you hit the net with the client pc, then work it out after you have the net running.
