Cant install win XP
i had windows xp installed on the computer fine for like a year now. then it just decided to not work anymore, it would show the 'loading windows" logo thing, then it would just hang at a black screen. so i figured i would reinstall, because i was planning on doing that soon anyway. so i put the cd in and it loads all the files it needs for setup. Then it gets to the "setup is starting windows" and it hangs. so i tryed formating my c drive (i have a few partitions on my 80gb hd, 5gb for windows, 27gb(about) Data, 30gb(about) Software, 12gb(about) for linux. then about 600mb swap for linux) to see if that would allow it to install. and it still would hang at the same place. anyone have any ideas?
i would rather not have to format my entire HD and re-setup my partitions because i have a VB Class and all my projects are in NTFS format, not to mention my music ![]() Edit: i ment, my projects are on my NTFS partition. my bad. Last edited by Mr.Stretch : March 28th, 2003 at 07:39 PM. |

You should ALWAYS backup your files. Linux can read but not write to NTFS, so why don't you backup your files to CDs or a external hard drive from Linux. Now, try deleting the Windows partition, recreate it, and see if it'll install.
