CDRW and win98SE

Hello,
any clue what to do?
Problem:
Can't read CDRW on win98SE
HW:
Asus CUVX4, 256MB RAM, PIII/600,
DVD-ROM Teac516E...

I tested reading under Linux (mount -t udf /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom) and it works excelent.
In win98 it cannot even read the label of CDRW.
Reading DVDs, regular CDs is OK under both systems.
The udf has been made by Nero on TEAC540E.
I even tested this newly created (and loaded) CDRW in a regular CDROM drive and is read OK under Linux and on the machine it has been created (housing winNT4).

What to try now?

make sure the dma is enabled for all your drives, if they support it, then try using roxio's udf reader, i have alot of trouble with cdrw disk also, mostly they seem to erase over time just sitting in a jewel case, I quit using them, they are more of a pain then they are worth. regular cd disk i get 100 for usually around $20 when office max has a sale.

What about win2k. They support it I have read. What if I try to install Nero 5 and up despite that I have no burner. I use win98 for games and a few utils (flash5...) that are have not yet been released for unixes.
What about aspi driver? Do they do a thing in this?

There's a possibility to burn 'temporary' CDs for they are cheap here as well.

If this is no help either I'll keep on using them for unix only. I have a bunch of stuff to carry around as I'm primarily a unix oriented.

Thanks for you answer.

you can try everything from bios update for you motherboard, firmware for you cd drives, aspi files, and the other udf files, i have made windows 95 with pio drives read cdrw disk so it can be done, just have to look up your specific hardware and see what updates you can get, and also it doesnt hurt to check windows updates.i just dont download drivers from microsoft's site, the nic card and modem drivers they have usually dont work, or work badly

OK.
I'll try to fiddle around.
Thanks a lot.

Great. have installed incdudfreader.exe and it has worked so far.
For others with the same problem:
Just put in google "incdudfreader.exe" and find a site where the file is available for download.
That's it.
Thank you.
Zbynek
