Clicking on URL's going to a website

When I click on a website url in a email, instead of taking me to the actual website itself it brings up a folder with located on my C drive. Presently the only way I can get to a website is to copy and paste it to the browser bar. How can I get to where I click on the URL and have it take me directly to the web page?

There's known IE bug or whatever Microsoft calls it. If you have let's say folder or file called google, or www.google.com folder on your desktop and you are trying to access www.google.com, or just plainly google with IE instead of going to Google it goes to the folder that's on your desktop with that name
