Code 41 problem please help

I rebooted my computer and my dvd rom and dvd burner just didn't show up in my computer anymore, I tried to reinstall them, Drivers everything, but I need to know the microsoft windows xp driver files so that I can reinstall it. Good god I'm basically all out of ideas though if this doesn't work, I'm also getting tons of windows file protection error, which is getting annoying too I have no idea how to fix this either, yes I'm a moron, but for the love of god tell me how to fix this.

did you install anything new, or update the bios, and does your bios see the drives? how many ide drives total on the machine, and what are the jumper settings for the setup?
