    Compacting OE folders programatically

    Hi.

Is there a way in any programming language to compact outlook express e-mail folders with code?

    Thanks,

    Tony

Why would you want to code something to do this when by default, Outlook Express is configured to compact folders automatically during periods of inactivity. And, you can always run it manually by going to Tools > Options > Maintenance and click on 'Clean Up Now'.

I can't imagine why you would want to do such a thing remotely - I think it's only possile itself from within outlook express so you would need to open OE firstly to do so.

No, as long as you have Outlook running and you are not doing any tasks that are using the cpu heavily, then it compacts automatically in the background.
