Connecting XP with windows 2000
Dear All,
A few days ago I bought Windows XP and installed it on my laptop. Before XP, I used to network 2 PC's and the main operating system was Windows 2000PRO on both PC's and the network was working fine. However now, I can access the laptop through the main PC (running windows 2000), but I cannot access the main pc through the laptop. When I tried to search for the main pc, and double clicked on it, XP asked me for a username and password! How can I setup the network on my laptop? THanks for your help |

Make sure your laptop is in the same workgroup or domain as the W2K computer.

because 2000 is meant for corporate lan use, it needs a username and password ofr you to be able to access the netbios shares, so all you have to do is create a local user on the main PC and uses it just for netbios access, set permissions and stuff and then put that into the XP prompt, and bish bash bosh, it should work.
