Post CPU is constantly at 100% - DLLHOST.EXE

My computer started to have all kind of problems after I installed Microsoft Messenger 6.0 (Windows XP). Now, I am not able to run Windows Update, access my hotmail account using IE (Netscape works), apply patches because it is saying that my Cryptographic Service is not started when it is started, CPU is constantly at 100% usage running DLLHOST.EXE, Messenger 6.0 does not work, and also I am not able to install MSN 8.

If there is any one familiar with this problem please help me out.

You may have a virus. Open Task Manager and end the process DLLHOST. Then do an online scan at one of these places:

Trend Micro
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Panda ActiveScan

McAfee FreeScan

Thanks for reposting
Tom

Let us know how it goes

I have tried these sites, but they just work with IE. Even though I have enabled ActiveX it is still complaining about ActiveX not enable. Therefore, I can not scan through the IE browser and also I am not able to run Windows update.

Probably, I messed up DLLs during Microsoft Messenger installation and now, I have all these problems. Also, W XP does not allow me to install IE 6 again (changed registry also).

thanks.
