Disk/Operating system image backup software

Hi all,

I would like to learn if there's a free and reliable backup software which gets the image of the disks and installs the system back to the backup date operating system.

Some of my clients use Shadow Protect with Qnap which works fine. But some don't have those software and hardware.

It would be great to offer them a freeware alternative.

Kindest Regards
telmessos

Strange you should post this today, I just got done making a disk image of a windows hard drive about 2 hours ago.

just use a linux live CD and the dd program. It's easy, free and reliable once you learn how to use it.

hi,

thanks for the replies.

@salem I had a look at the site of clonezilla which I found a bit confusing. Server Edition is talking about DRBL which seems to be for Linux. All my servers are Windows servers.

@Doug G I am working on the servers remotely. The servers are located in different cities of my country. So I have to:

1) set an operating system clone once or twice in a month automatically. (using windows scheduling)

2) get daily backup of the files (which I think I can fix with ntbackup)

So in case of any disaster. I want to make the system online in hours.

Any ideas?

Many thanks again..

Depending on your use case, DriveImage XML from Runtime could be something for you. It's only free for private use, though.

The problem I have run into with Clonezilla is it won't resize partitions on the fly like Ghost. If you are cloning from a smaller drive to a larger drive, you are good. Not so much the other way around. Just something to keep in mind.
