Does Win2k have a su command?
Stupid question: In Windows 2000 Pro, is there a way in the middle of one user's session to temporarily change to a different user? Other than forcing the first user to log off?
UNIX/Linux has that capability with the su command (¿superuser?). Actually, that is the only way you can become root (UNIX' version of Administrator) during a telnet session. I am hoping that Win2k has a similar command or capability. The situation is that our home computer is a Win2k box. And my wife is a neophyte user after years of strong cyberphobia, so she has very little patience with any difficulties while she's on-line. There have been times while she was online when I needed to become Administrator to take care of a problem. Or when she had gone online under my user account, so she didn't have access to her own "My Documents" or her own "My Favorites" list. If I could have su'd to the appropriate user account in those cases, it would have helped a lot. Can it be done? |

Even though XP is not an option (especially since I've had to use it at school), there is the remote possibility that the same feature exists in Win2k. Could you please briefly describe how Fast User Switching is invoked and used? To give me an idea of what to look for on my system. |

In XP, it is pressing "windows key + L". But afaik this feature is unique to XP.
But you can also use a link to the exe and setup another login in the advanced options. This should also be available in W2k. If it does not work, try selecting the .exe in explorer and shift-rightclick on it, "Run as..." should appear in the context menu then.
