DOS emulator on XP or win2000

Hi all,
I know a person working with accounting (he is a book keeper) programs, which run only under DOS. This is the reason why he is still working with WIN98 which all will agree that is highly unstable and it really is. The man suffers by working with this OS. Because he is working every day with his computer I urged him to move to win2000 or XP but the companies supplying the software are yet to create those progs. for those platforms.

My question is: 1. how can I help the man? Are there any known emulators which simulate a 98 environment, on which one can run DOS based programs? This can be of much help for him because I find it unprofessional to work with WIN98 (sorry Bill) for one's business, don't you all agree?

Many thanks, D.

XP comes with a compatibility mode, in which you can choose to 'emulate' which version of windows you want to run in.

See here for all the details and a howto etc

Compatibility mode doesn't really work

It's fine, but it runs my old games too SLOW! It's over compensating so it's useless.

Is there a way to control how fast the dos emulation in windows xp is or is there a dos emulator that would work?

I've tried DosBox and it works perfectly except when the game actually starts, the video turns negative (like film).

VDMsound just locks up and doens't work at all
