Dual Boot for the Blind
I am trying to help a friend of mine who is blind set up a Dual-boot system (2 different languages of Windows XP).
He normally uses text to speech and braille screen readers, but obviously these are not running when the boot manager runs. He can make the correct selection on the boot manager screen when it appears, but the problem is he has no way of knowing when it appears. Is there any way to have the system beep when the boot selection screen appears? Any other ideas? P.S.: A friend gave me one solution. I can create a script which will modify the boot.ini file, to change the default operating system. I can run this from within either version of Windows, to set which version it will boot into the next time. This should do the job, but if someone has another suggestion your ideas are welcome. Well to make a dual boot system you need a boot loader. And most of them have a thing that makes them load the 'default' OS in the 10 seconds after it starts. But you can change the default OS and the amount of time. I'm not too sure about the beep though...
