Dual Boot with XP Pro and W2K Server
I have a machine here at my office that was running XP Pro. I used Partition Magic to split the drive to 2 partitions. I then ghosted an image from a functioning w2ks machine onto the new partition.
I booted back to the XP side and setup the boot.ini file. I set the default to be the XP partition and then setup the w2ks line. When I reboot I get the prompt to select the partition. If I select XP everything works fine. When I select the w2ks partition I get errors about missing dlls in %systemroot%\system32\ folder. Boot.ini [boot loader] timeout=5 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Server" /fastdetect Any suggestions? Thanks, Mark Sworab |

.....why not just throw all data on the xp box. you obviously are not using 2k/server as a server if your dual booting. or vise versa.
żdid you try using the repair. not the console but "esc, then enter when it finds 2ks on the drive" i havent had to think about it in 4 years but i dont think that 2ks will run other than on the primary part. or you have a driver error when you ghosted if the 2 boards dont have the same chipset. dll ext. |
