earthlink pop3/smtp in outlook

i have been trying to set up my earthlink account in outlook but when i send/receive the name/password for the pop3 contiously pops up, even after I enter the name/pw and click ok..

any ideas?

i have used the following for the setup

pop3: pop.earthlink.net
smtp: smtp.earthlink.net
name: trekken78910311
pw: ***** // like that?, lol

connection: via LAN

but it doesn't work...

i've gotten all the above to work on a different computer...

I only have obvious suggestions like does the smtp server require independent authentication? There's a check box in your account settings for this. Use Send and Receive independently to try and narrow the problem. Remember to click apply after making changes. Double check your password by typing it in manually on the other machine whose authentication works. Does the server require security?

okay

sorry mod... didn't realize that i placed the post in the wrong forum section..

anyways.. i think i figured out the prob at hand..

earthlink has parental controls which are prob disabling the send/receiving mail through outlook because when i try to do so

errr-your accnt is not allowed to use pop mail... blah blah blah

need to get the parentals to fix that for me...
