Hi!
I have a question about turning windows off. I have a old 350Mhz computer with w2000 pro that dosnt turn off right. I had w98 before on this machine and then it turned off automatically, but now the w2000 shur down screen comes on and I cant turn the computer off. I have to restart it and then turn it off "the ruff way" with the powerbutton. Is there something I can do about it in windows2000 or is it in the bios? I cant find anything, do you guys have any idea? Best regards. Xeon666 |

When you install windows 2000, it will show a message "press F6 for scsi controllers" or similar. this is the point where you can press (F5, F8, F??? - canīt remember which one) to get advanced installation options.
there you get the choice to install a "standard" or "ACPI" machine. You need the ACPI machine. But seems like W2k decided that your PC does not support it or itīs support is broken. So it installed the "default" version without ACPI. did you run the compatibility check for your hardware before installation? also, try to update your mainboard BIOS to the most recent version. from my experience though - BEFORE installing W2k ![]() (the problem you describe can be caused by quite many other reasons too, so this is only one hint that could help you finding the actual problem...)

Found solution....
I found the problem, it was really easy... Just a checkcox in the energy options in the control panel... Sometimes it easier than you think... But thanks for the help.
