Extensive Search & Replace Tool

I have a W2K server running FrontPage Extensions of IIS. I need to run an extensive Search and Replace on all files. For some reason I think the FrontPage Extensions cause problems... maybe has locked files or something.

What tools can I use to open files (maybe even if they are locked) search for a string and replace with a string. Need to be able to select file types (ie html, htm, asp).

You cannot open files that are locked. This is the sense in locking files...

For search and replace, I most times use Homesite (the html editor). It has a feature to search and replace in a folder with subfolders only for special file types and can even do regexps (though I didn´t get them to work yet)

For more extensive search and replace, I recommend PERL. www.activestate.com . You only need to learn some basics about the language and it can do even much much more for you
