Fast User Switching Does not work
The option for Fast User Switching does not stay checked. When I go to the Manage Users screen and check the box that say Fast User Switching then click apply it does not work. If I do anything else and then go back to that screen the box is un-checked. Can anyone help me!!

Are your users required to supply a password and username?

Have you performed the steps listed in this?

Yes I have done the steps in
URL and something is unchecking the Fast User Switching box on me. If I just wait awhile after checking that box and applying the change it becomes unchecked. |

And you are logged on as the computer administrator? Have you checked the event log to see if anything is being written there?

Do you have PCAnywhere installed? Versions of PCAW prior to 10.5 will prevent fast user switching from working.

domain security
Due to domain security fast user switching has been disabled, I have local administrator access, can anyone tell me how to re-enable this as it would help a GREAT deal if I could switch users while trying to backup their data to DVD/CD etc and perform other helpdesk tasks

My experience with PCAnywhere was that the fast user switching option completely disappeared untill PCAnywhere was uninstalled.
Fast user switching will not work while a computer is attached to a domain. The only work around I can think of would be a script to remove the local machine from the domain, enable fast user switching then reverse the process when your activities are complete. Good luck. victorpendleton, I wonder if that was the problem... if he was admin. |
