My disk space on the C drive is getting low. When I go through the Windows XP utility to Free up space on my disk, and I select the C drive, the Disk Cleanup starts. The first step is 'Scanning: Compress old files'. As the Calculating progress bar starts, it gets about 10% and then just hangs there. I have let this Disk Cleanup run over night but it still is only at about 10%.
Any suggestions as to what to try? Maybe a 3rd party utility, if so, any suggestions on a good one? Any suggestions are certainly welcome. Thanks. |

I haven't used the Disk Cleanup on XP yet, but maybe have to do with other programs running, screen saver, or power saving settings.

start by right clicking the internet explorer icon, go to properties, delete the temp internet files and ie history, cookies are up to you, delete if you want to. now go to the disk clean up utility, click the more options tab, clean up all but last restore point. click ok, see if it cleans you out now.
