does anyone know if it's possible to play games on windows xp professional edition?

Definitely, anything that runs on XP home will run on XP pro. It's the same product model. Check out NTcompatible.com, they have a listing of games and other software they have tested with XP. Also, even it will not run natively in XP there is a shot at using the Application Compatibility Toolkit or whatever its called. You can download that from windowsupdate. Well hope this helps ..
