help on strange boot issue - printer driver installs at every reboot
For a while now, everytime I reboot XP seems to think that I just installed my printer as a new device then it asks me to search for a driver. It always finds the existing driver, install it and then finishes off saying there was was some sort of error.
Has anyone ever seen this and know how to fix it ? thx .. cheyana |

i assume this is a usb printer, is it a combination scanner/ fax also, anyway, go to the manufacturers site and look up the model number for the printer and download the latest driver, install it, should fix you up, alot of printers, and some other hardware come with xp drivers that dont work correctly, but usually they have updated it and have it on-site for download. i have had the same problem on many HP and lexmark printers, most were printer/ fax/ scanner combination devices though. If the driver doesnt do it try it on a different usb port, if it is ltp, try going into the bios and see what the bios is set for on it.
